After studying medicine and completing my doctorate in Freiburg, I worked as a research assistant at the University Hospital Frankfurt, where I also completed my training in internal medicine. In 2011, I moved to the Kerckhoff Clinic, where I further specialized in cardiology and became Managing Senior Physician.

My scientific focus is on the diagnosis and interventional treatment of heart valve disease. My research has contributed to European guidelines. In 2022, I was appointed Adjunct Professor at Justus Liebig University Giessen and have been involved in teaching and medical education for many years.

Before studying medicine, I completed piano studies in Freiburg; music remains a lasting passion to this day.

I studied medicine in Frankfurt am Main. After completing my doctorate and training in internal medicine, I specialized in pacemaker and defibrillator therapy.

Following my specialist training in cardiology, I obtained the DGK additional qualification in “Specialized Cardiac Rhythmology / Active Cardiac Rhythm Implants” in 2019. In 2021, I became Head of the Department for Pacemaker and Defibrillator Therapy at the University Heart Center Frankfurt, followed in 2023 by EHRA certification (ECDS Level III), the highest European qualification in device therapy. Since 2024, I have been responsible for cardiac device therapy at Worms Hospital and have also been working at Cardiology on the Main since 2026.

In addition to my professional focus as a cardiac electrophysiologist, rhythm also accompanies my personal life as I play the drums.

As the central point of contact, Ms. Schmalz accompanies our patients throughout their entire visit to the practice.

Whether it is arranging appointments, handling prescription requests, returning calls, or addressing organizational matters, she personally takes care of every detail with great friendliness and exceptional helpfulness.
