Diseases of the cardiovascular system are among the most widespread diseases in Germany. In addition to genetic predisposition and natural aging processes, it is above all high blood pressure, smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes, lack of exercise, and an unhealthy diet that lead to a buildup of deposits in the vessels. Unfortunately, these deposits do not cause any symptoms over long periods of time but can later be the cause of heart attacks or strokes.
Our cardiological check-up is used for the early detection of disorders of your cardiovascular system and to determine your personal risk of cardiovascular disease. After a detailed interview, physical examination, measurement of blood lipid levels and blood sugar, we determine the status quo of your heart health by electrocardiogram (ECG), exercise electrocardiogram, and echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound). We examine the structure and pumping capacity of your heart chambers and the function of the heart valves as well as the blood flow and condition of your vessels using ultrasound of the carotid artery.
An additional pulmonary function test (spirometry) helps us to assess the volume of your lungs and airflow velocities. Based on your medical history and our check-up, if we find a combination of factors indicating a possible risk, a cardiac CT scan can also be useful for a precise assessment of your coronary arteries and to determine the plaque load.
By the way: You do not need a referral from your family doctor for our cardiological check-up.
